A Deeper Introduction to Chanoyu
Matcha Harmony offers a more personal introduction to Chanoyu, the Japanese way of tea, in a calm and intimate setting.
During the 50-minute experience, you will learn about Chanoyu and its utensils, enjoy seasonal Japanese sweets and freshly prepared matcha, watch a tea demonstration, and prepare your own bowl of matcha.
No previous experience is required. With a maximum of five guests per session, there is time to enjoy the experience at a relaxed pace and ask questions along the way.

Do I need any previous experience with Chanoyu?

No. Matcha Harmony is suitable for first-time visitors, and no previous experience is required.

Is the experience conducted in English?

Yes. The experience will be guided in English, and you are welcome to ask questions throughout the session.

Do I need to sit in seiza?

No. If sitting in seiza or on the floor is difficult for you, chairs are available. Please let us know when making your booking request.

Can I join by myself?

Yes. Solo guests and pairs are welcome. Depending on the booking, you may share the session with other guests.

How many guests are in each session?

Each session is held with a minimum of three and a maximum of five guests.

What if the minimum number of participants is not reached?

We will contact you by email if the minimum number of three participants has not yet been reached. Your booking will be confirmed once the session is scheduled to take place and payment has been received.

Can I take photos or videos?

Photography is permitted at designated times during the experience. Please ask before taking photos or videos, and refrain from photographing private areas of the residence. If other guests are present, please obtain their permission before photographing them in a way that makes them identifiable.
Important Information
- Please wear socks in the tea room. White socks are preferred.
- All utensils and equipment needed for the experience will be provided. You do not need to bring anything with you.
- Please arrive at the time specified in your booking confirmation. As the tea room is located in a private residence, please do not arrive significantly earlier than the designated time.
- Please note that payments are non-refundable after your booking has been confirmed.
- Photography and video recording are permitted only at designated times and in designated areas. Please follow the instructor’s guidance before taking photos or videos.
- Please do not photograph or record private areas of the residence, personal belongings, the exterior of the residence, or any areas outside the designated tea room without permission.
- If other guests are present, please obtain their permission before photographing or recording them in a way that makes them identifiable, or before posting such photos or videos online.
- Photos and videos may be taken by Cha-en during the experience for documentation purposes. We will ask in advance whether you consent to the use of photos or videos in which you can be personally identified on our website, social media, or other promotional materials.
