Thick Matcha in a Traditional Tea Room

For guests seeking a deeper and more authentic Japanese tea experience, Koicha Experience offers a rare opportunity to enjoy thick matcha (koicha) prepared over charcoal in a traditional tea room.

In this session, charcoal is prepared in the hearth (ro) or brazier (furo). You will experience koicha inside the tea room, followed by usucha (thin matcha) served in a comfortable chair-seating style (ryurei). After observing a demonstration and receiving guidance, you will also have the chance to try preparing usucha yourself.

This experience includes cultural commentary and a demonstration by a tea practitioner active internationally—designed for those who wish to understand not only the taste, but also the spirit and aesthetics of Japanese tea.
